The Therapy Process

1
Initial Consultation

We start by talking through what’s brought you to counselling, your current concerns, and what you’re hoping to get out of the process. This session helps set direction and ensure counselling feels like a good fit.

2
Therapy Plan

Together we develop a shared understanding of your experiences, patterns and stressors. This helps clarify why certain difficulties persist and guides our approach moving forward.

3
Therapy Sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes long and focus on building insight, emotional regulation, and practical strategies. The pace is guided by you, with space for reflection as well as skill-building.

4
Therapy Review

We regularly review progress and adjust goals as needed. If you have a MHTP, I’ll write a letter to your GP with an overview of progress so far after our 6th session.

5
Maintenance or Discharge

Counselling may conclude when you feel more confident managing independently or continue longer-term if appropriate.

Make an enquiry

It may feel a little overwhelming when you first reach out for support. Many people feel uncertain about what to expect. It can be helpful to have an initial 15-minute chat to ask questions and see if you feel comfortable working together. If you would like to do this, please leave your details in the contact form here and I will contact you to arrange a time to chat. Thanks!
